Our Storytelling for Change Workshop aims to empower women from marginalized communities to raise their voices
by sharing their stories through visual medium.
The workshop is led by our founder and accomplished filmmaker, Shanta Nepali, and other experienced
professionals in the field. The program includes training in various aspects of filmmaking, including
scriptwriting, directing, camera operation, and editing. Participants will also learn about the importance of
storytelling for social change and how to use film as a tool for amplifying marginalised voices.
Throughout the workshop, participants will work on creating their own short films, with the guidance and
support of the instructors. The workshop concludes with a final screening of the participants' films, giving
them the opportunity to share their stories with a wider audience.
The Storytelling for Change Workshop is designed to be a transformative experience for the participants,
helping them to gain the confidence and skills they need to tell their own stories and make a positive impact
in their communities. Our goal is to create a supportive and empowering environment that encourages the
participants to express themselves, build connections, and inspire change.
We believe that everyone has a story to tell and that everyone deserves to be heard. Through this project, we
aim to give women from marginalized communities the opportunity to share their perspectives, and in turn, help
to shape a more just and equitable world.

Creating opportunities for women from marginalized communities
Working for the change we want to see in the world
The journey of Shanta Foundation begins with Shanta Nepali; a
director, producer, cinematographer and adventurer based in
Kathmandu, Nepal. She holds a Masters of Arts degree in Rural
Development and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Travel and Tourism and
Documentary Film Course from London Film Academy. Her years of work
and experience in journalism and television led her path to the
creative industry in Nepal. She is also the founder of Nepali Female
Filmmakers, a cohort that facilitates collaborations, workshops and
training for female filmmakers. And she continues to lead the path
and provide support to other females, especially those from
marginalized communities through her charity - Shanta Foundation.
Shanta Foundation aims to uplift and support these women from
marginalized communities to realize their aspirations and potential
through mentoring, educating beyond school-based knowledge, and
providing practical skill-based knowledge in an effort to link their
creative labor with financial security and independence.
